This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of local raw materials-based feed and compared with commercial feed on the nutrient value of fish rearing tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in floating cages held in Maninjau, West Sumatra. test fish used is Tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus) with an average initial weight of 4.0 grams / tail, and an average length of 4.5 cm with a stocking density tail 3910 / plots cages, the cages the size of 5x5x4 meters by 4 plots. The feed is given in the form of pellets and as much as 5% of the weight of the fish biomass is given 3 times a day. The method used is to compare the two types of fish feed with 2 replications. A treatment (artificial feed made from local raw), treatment B (commercial feed production by PT. Prima Medan Central protein Comfeed product name). Variables measured include the retention of protein, fat retention, protein efficiency ratio, the percentage of carcasses, and the pattern of calcium and phosphorus in the test fish. The results showed that feeding with local raw material based treatment A and treatment B commercial feeding, showed no difference in the nutrient value in tilapia like Protein Retention treatment A = (28.55%), treatment B = (28.39%). Fat retention value of treatment A = (30.98%) treatment B = (23.70%). Protein Efficiency Ratio value of treatment A = (6.947%), treatment B = (7.490%). Calcium retention treatment A = (12.22%), treatment B = (14.43%). Phosphorus retention treatment A = (28.16%), treatment B = (28.24%). Percentage of carcass produced at the end of the test fish higher studies obtained in the treatment of each A = (47.36%), and treatment B = (46.00%).
