ANALISIS KESALAHAN SISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL MATEMATIKA PADA KELAS VIII SMPN 29 PADANG
This background research by how to learn of students who are deficient good, and the lot of students who do mistakes in work matter the exercise which are given teacher, especially if the exercise is different from the example of the matter taught by the teacher. Therefore, it be required an analysis about of the mistakes students do and causative factor students to make mistakes in solving math exercise. Mistakes analyzed are mistakes fact, concepts, principles, and algorithms.
The analysis was performed using diagnostic tests and interviews. The result of the research shows that there are some mistakes made by the students, that is 1) the fact mistake of as big as 32,94%, 2) the mistake of concept as big as 36,80%, 3) the mistakes of principle as big as 21,96%, and 4) mistakes of algorithm as big as 8, 30%. And the factors that cause students to make mistakes are be divided two, namely internal factors and external factors. Based on the results of research that has been done, students are expected more often work matter the exercise questions and more meticulous in work matter. It is expected also in learning teacher emphasize more on students' understanding of the material being taught and perform error analysis so that they can know the mistakes made by the students and know the cause.
