### PENERAPAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN COOPERATIVE INTEGRATED READING AND COMPOSITION PADA KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS SISWAKELAS VII SMP N 12 PADANG

**EXECUTIVE SUMMARY**

This research is motivated by the low ability of problem solving of mathematical students and learning outcomes of student at grase VII of SMP N 12 Padang are still less than the Minimum Passing Criteria (MPC). This is because in the learning process students they are ready to learn, learning activities are still dominated by teachers. When given a different problem with the example presented by the teacher most students are confused. Students alsohave difficulty in planning, applying, and determining the steps needed to solve the problem. Therefore, the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition learning model can be used as an alternative to reduce the problem. Hypothesis of this research is to figure out student’s ability of mathematical problem solving.Applying Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition learning model better than students' mathematical problem solving ability by using ordinary learning and learning outcomes through problem solving aspect in grade VII students of SMP N 12 Padang.

The type of research is experimental research. The population in this study is the students of class VII SMP N 12 Padang year lesson 2016/2017 consisting of 8 classes and students of class VII.7 as the sample. The data in this study were obtained by giving the final test in the two sample classes, the test consists of 10 items of description.

To test the hypothesis used t-test at the level of α = 0.05. From the calculation results obtained and , because , then the research hypothesis accepted. Thus it can be concluded that student’s mathematical problem solving ability by applying Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition learning model is better than student’s mathematical problem solving ability by applying ordinary learning to grade VII students of SMP N 12 Padang and student learning outcomes on problem solving is also better than before.
