The cause of the understanding of the mathematical concepts of the students of grade VIII SMPN 13 Padang under Minimum Exhaustiveness Criterion (KKM) is that most students have not been able to find out what the problem is, if given different problems from the sample, then many students can not do it, Students have not been able to choose a particular procedure or operation in solving the problem, most students can not explain again about the concept of learning materials that have been studied. One of the learning models that can be applied is the *Scramble* learning model. The purpose of this study is to determine the results of understanding the concept of mathematics of students whose learning applying a model of learning *Scramble* better than the understanding of the mathematical concepts of students with ordinary learning in class VIII SMPN 13 Padang.

The hypothesis in this study is the proportion of understanding of mathematical concepts of students who achieve mastery learning mathematics by applying a model of learning *Scramble* higher than the proportion of understanding of mathematical concepts of students who achieve mastery learning mathematics by applying regular learning in class VIII SMPN 13 Padang.

The type of this research is experimental research. The population in this study were students of class VIII SMPN 13 Padang year lesson 2016/2017. It was found that the homogeneous population was chosen by two random sample classes. Of the two sample classes, class VIII.3 as the experimental class and class VIII.4 as the control class. The instrument used in this study is a quiz to determine the progress of understanding the concepts of mathematics students and the final test contains indicators of conceptual understanding and assessment based on analytic rubric in the form of description.

The result data of the students' mathematical concept understanding on the sample class was obtained from the final test given. The final test results obtained, analyzed for hypothesis testing using the formula χ ^ 2 for two independent samples obtained χ^{2} = 2.46 and the p value is at the 0.05 interval <p <0.10. Therefore p> 0,05 means accept *H _{1}*. Thus, it is concluded that the proportion of understanding of mathematical concepts of students who achieve mathematical learning completeness by applying a model of learning

*Scramble*higher than the proportion of students who achieve mastery learning math by applying ordinary learning.
