PENERAPAN METODE BUZZ GROUP PADA PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 34 PADANG

SUMMARY

 

This research is motivated by low student learning activity and mathematics learning outcomes  of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 34 Padang Year of Study 2016/2017. The low mathematics learning outcomes of students is one of them is due to the learning that is still centered on the teacher, and the lack of student activity in the learning process. To overcome this, one of the efforts made is to apply the Buzz Group method.The purpose of this research is (1) to know the learning activity of mathematics of students whose learning apply the method of Buzz Group and ordinary learning in class VIII SMP Negeri 34 Padang. (2) to compare mathematics learning outcomes of students whose learning applies Buzz Group method with student learning outcomes whose learning applying normal learning to grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 34 Padang.

The question of this research is how students' learning activity during the application of Buzz Group method and ordinary learning On the students of class VIII SMP Negeri 34 Padang ?. Hypothesis in this research is "the result of learning mathematics of student by using LKS which applied in Group Buzz Method better than result of learning mathematics of student with ordinary learning at student of class VIII SMP Negeri 34 Padang".The type of research used is experimental research. The population in this study is the students of class VIII SMP Negeri 34 Padang year lesson 2016/2017. The sample in this research is class VIII.7 as control class and VIII.9 as experiment class.

Learning result data was obtained by giving final test to both sample class which consist of eight item description question. Then the two sample classes were tested hypothesis, obtained χ2 = 6,99 and db = 1 with p <0,005. Because this research useα = 0,05 then p <0,05 means rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that the proportion of students who achieve mastery learning mathematics students using LKS applied to the Buzz Group method is higher than the proportion of students who achieve mastery learning mathematics learning using ordinary learning.
