ABSTRACT

One of the potential sources for edible oil is Hodgsonia macrocarpa (bilungking, akar kepayang), due to high oil content in its seed. These plant also known as pig fruit or ribbed melon, because the taste of the oil like pork fat (lard). West Sumatera is one of the centres of propagation of Hodgsonia macrocarpa in Indonesia. This research investigated the characterization of Hodgsonia macrocarpa seed oil from Kayutanam, West Sumatera. The result sho wn 53% (w/w) oil was achieved from the seed.
