Abstract

This paper contains a review of the application of the character education model based on local wisdom through the use of literary literary corner in Khaira Ummah Islamic Elementary School Padang. The utilization of a classroom corner as an activity to instill interest in reading and writing by classroom teachers is considered effective, if it is designed well. However, during the utilization of the corner of the classroom is still limited to the pictures alone without trying to develop it into the form of interesting stories and educative in which also contains the values of Minangkabau wisdom. Local wisdom is often referred to as local wisdom, local knowledge, or local genius. In general, local wisdom is defined as a view of life and knowledge and various life strategies in the form of activities undertaken by local communities in responding to various problems or challenges in fulfilling their life covering all aspects of life such as religion, science and technology, social, bahsa dan arts. In addition, it can also be a tradition, petitih-petitih, and the motto of life. Positive values of local wisdom is the potential and basic capital in the formation of identity and character of the students. Especially in the current conditions in the era of globalization, technological progress is incredible rapidly. By utilizing the values of local Minangkabau wisdom, one of them by utilizing the corner of literasi is possible will be able to stem the things that are not desirable and re-introduce to the students that the Minangkabau area has a content value that does not fade along with the development of technology.
