Abstract

This study start from the problem of the low student’s understanding of concept and reasoning to repeat the concept, classify the objects by characters based on concept, mathematic manipulation, and take conclusion. This cause ability in concept and mathematical reasoning is still low. The objectives of this study is to express the influence of  Problem Based Instruction Model toward  understanding of concept and mathematical reasoning at elementary school students. Based on the study, are summarized that the understanding of concept and mathematical reasoning of students which learned by using Problem Based Instruction Model method is higher than the students which learned by using conventional method.
