Abstract

Teachers have the role as mentors, models, innovators, administrators and evaluators, especially, in learning Indonesian. Moreover, if the environment is less favorable learning, the teacher's role is very meaningful for the students because it determines the success of a teaching strongly influenced by the environment, parents and schools. Teachers are as a mirror for the students, especially for children, who usually tend to imitate. The purpose of this paper is to describe the role of teachers in improving children's language acquisition and language development. The method of this research used descriptive qualitative and literature studies. The results showed that teachers play and responsible in the development of the language. It has acquired in the crew (first language). Children learn to communicate with others through a variety of ways. The knowledge of the nature of children's language development, the development of oral and written language that happens to them and individual differences in language acquisition is very important for the implementation of children's language learning, especially when they learn to read and write the beginning. As result,  the development of language or communication in children is one of the aspects of the stages of child development that should not escape the attention of educators in general and parents in particular. That is why prospective primary school teachers need to master the various concepts related to children's development and language acquisition.
