NILAI-NILAI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DI SEKOLAH DASAR

In Act No. 20 of 2003 on National Education system in Article 3, which states: "National Education serves to develop the ability and shape the character of a dignified nation and civilization in the context of the intellectual life of the nation ...". The law contained the word characters that can be interpreted as a way of thinking and behaving that are typical for living and working together both within the family, community, nation, and state. Character can also be said to be the values of human behavior associated with the Almighty God, ourselves, our fellow human beings, the environment, and nationality embodied in thoughts, attitudes, feelings, words, and actions based on religious norms, laws, manners , culture, customs, and aesthetics. The purpose of writing this paper is to describe the development of character education of children in primary schools. Qualitative research method uses descriptive and literature studies. The results showed that the development of character education in primary schools is essential even an educator must be done to shape the character of their students. The values of character education such as: religious, honest, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independent, democratic, curiosity, the spirit of nationalism, patriotism, cherish the achievements, friends / communicative, love peace, love reading, care for the environment , social care, and responsibility contained in all subjects in school. Educators become a major figure in the development of character education of children so that learners have the values of the nation's cultural character based on him as the next generation.
