ANALYSIS OF CONTRIBUTION AGRICULTURAL SECTOR TO THE ECONOMY OF PADANG METHOD LOCATION QUOTIENT (LQ).

SUMMARY

Agriculture is one of natural resources in which Indonesia has a comparative advantage, besides that the largest part of Indonesia's population also live and work in the sector, poverty phenomenon also occurs in agricultural sector. Thus if the agricultural sector is used as a foundation for national development where other sectors are fully supported, most of the problems faced by society will be solved. The agricultural sector of Padang City also contributes to the GDP. But in recent years the contribution of the agricultural sector has decreased.

 

This test examines what agricultural sectors and agricultural sub-sectors are the basic sectors in the Padang City economy, analyzes whether there is a change of position in the agricultural sector and agricultural sub-sector in Padang City, and analyzes the contribution of economic sectors and agricultural sub-sectors in the economy in Padang city. This study uses GDRB data on the basis of Constant Price According to the Padang City Employment and GDRB of West Sumatra in 2010-2015.

 

The result of Location Quotient analysis shows that the economic sectors that are the base are industry sector, building sector, hotel and restaurant trade sector, transportation and communications sector, financial services sector, and other services. Result of LQ analysis for agriculture sub sector is found that fishery sub sector is base sector with average value of LQ equal to (1,16).

 

The result of Shift Share  analysis shows that the economic sector of GRDP of Padang City has a positive Dij value. This means the economic sector of Padang City has a comparative advantage and competitive advantage. The results of Shift Share analysis for all agriculture sub-sectors have comparative advantage and competitive advantage. This is proven by a positive Dij score.

 

The contribution result shows that the secondary sector has the biggest contribution to PDRB Kota Padang that is tertiary sector equal to 66,38 percent. From the contribution that has the highest contribution value is fishery sub-sector with value of 2.58 percent.
