After the expansion of the region, The policy of preparing the development planning of Sijunjung Regency is expected to be more targeted and right target for the sustainable development, and to stimulate the development of economic activity in Sijunjung Regency.
This research was conducted to analyze and identify the leading sectors in Sijunjung District before and after the expansion of the region. This research uses secondary data type, data on research that is data of GRDP of Sijunjung Regency and West Sumatera Province 1999 - 2016 published by BPS. The analysis tools used in this research are Location Quotient, Shift Share, Growth Ratio Model (GRM) and Overlay.
The results showed that the potential of Sijunjung Regency prior to the expansion of the region was the mining and quarrying sector and the building sector, After the splitting of the potential areas of the leading sectors in Sijunjung District were agriculture, mining and quarrying sectors, construction sector, education services sector and health services sector and social. This identifies changes in economic structure in Sijunjung District.
These results suggest that the Sijunjung District government should focus on giving attention to the improvement of non-superior sectors. The government should establish a State Owned Enterprises (BUMNAG) managed by the community and nagari government in an effort to strengthen the nagari economy and develop potential sectors to become the base sector in Sijunjung District.
