RICE REQUEST ANALYSIS IN WEST SUMATERA PROVINCE

SUMMARY
Indonesia is one of the most agrarian countries where most of the population lives as farmers, especially the agricultural sector in the field of food crops. Food plants are all kinds of plants in which there are carbohydrates and proteins as a source of human energy. Food crops can also be regarded as the main crops that humans consume as food to provide energy intake for the body.
Rice is a unique commodity for Indonesia. In rural rice has become a symbol of the economic status of households. The instability of food supplies and or fluctuations in rice prices can trigger a riot that leads to criminal acts. Most people still want a stable supply and price of rice, available over time, distributed evenly, and at affordable prices. This shows that rice is still a strategic political commodity.
Indonesia is a developing country, as a developing country will not be separated from development problems. Development is a multidimensional effort that includes changes in various aspects of life that aims to improve the welfare of the community.
The level of consumer consumption is influenced by the demand and supply of a commodity. Bidding relates to the availability of a commodity in the market and the cost of obtaining it which would cause a difference in consumption behavior for each household. Demand is influenced by price and revenue levels.Based on the result of regression through equation some model of panel data analysis that is combination between cross-section data with time series data. The results of this research indicate that the price of Noodles (X2), Population (X3) and GRDP (X4) has a positive relationship and significant influence on Rice Demand, while Rice Price (X1) has a negative relationship and no significant effect on Rice Demand.Keywords: Rice Demand, Rice Price, Instant Noodle Price, Total Population, PDRB in West Sumatera Province
