THE ENTICEMENT OF TRADITIONAL AND MODERN MARKET IN PADANG CITY CASE STUDY OF PADANG GRADE MARKET AND BASKO GRAND MALL
Abstract
Market which is much closer to down-middle society life is called traditional market. Whereas in this globalization era, the society especially top-middle level choose a modern one with better quality. That market is called modern market.
In proportional sampling, all individuals as the customers of Padang great market and Basko grand mall were given equal opportunity to be selected as respondent. This research used proportion as many as 5% with average population of 1000 people so that the selected sample were 50 people.
From the counting of single restraint gravity model in this research, the enticement index of customers towards traditional market or Padang great market was 43.52, that was also supported by the reason of the society in doing shopping to Padang great market because of the fresh quality of the products, kinds of the products needed were complete, there was much cheaper price of the goods, and they could bargain. In the other hand, the enticement index of customers towards modern market or Basko grand mall was 6.34. Outcome distribution of traditional market or Padang great market was 85.10. It was higher than outcome distribution of modern market or Basko grand mall where was only about 11.94.
