Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of local revenues, equalization fund, and the total population of the district and municipal government spending in the province of west Sumatra. The population is in this study were 19 counties and cities in the province of west Sumatra that already has the data of the local government budget (APBD) 2010-2013. This study uses data collection directly to the field and research into library. The data used are secondary data sources of data derived from central agency statistics (BPS) province  of west Sumatra. To examine the effect of local revenues, equalization funds, and number of people against government spending used multiple linear regression model. The results showed that the local revenues and the balance funds effect on government spending, while the number of the population has no effect on government spending counties and cities in the province of west Sumatra.
