Abstract

Tourist attraction Lake Singkarak is the 2nd largest lake in Sumatra, in the province of West Sumatra. The aim of research to figure out the strategy that should be used in the development of attraction to be optimized. This research using SWOT analysis, by analyzing the strengths and weaknesses (internal), opportunities and threats (external) in Lake Singkarak. Methods of data collection using primary and secondary data. Based on the research results is the main strength of uniqueness in Lake Singkarak and the drawback is the location of the parking lot that is not neatly arranged. Chances are by creating events entertainment channel creativity village children, such as dance performances, festival band, and so forth. And threats that must be anticipated is a natural disaster that suddenly would have a negative impact and impede the development of attractions. In the development of this attraction, the recommended strategy is SO strategy (Strengths Opportunities), which means maximizing the power of attraction in Lake Singkarak to seize opportunities that will make the attraction even better than before.
