Abstract

ABSTRACT
This study aimed to determine the effect of economic growth, the percentage of poor
people, government spending in education, public expenditure in health and unequal
distribution of income to the Human Development Index in West Pasaman.
This type of research is classified in descriptive and associative. Research done at the
Office of the Biro Pusat Statistik (BPS) in West Pasaman. The data used in this research is
secondary data in the form of a period (time series) starting from the year 2000 to 2015 the
annual quantitative. The data collection technique used is literature study and documentation.
Data was analyzed using multiple regression linear.
The results of this study indicate that (1) Economic growth (X1) positive and
significant impact on the human development index (HDI) (Y) proved the analysis results
obtained t count at 8.873 and 0.001 sig. This means that the better the economic growth of a
region, the better its human development index. (2) The percentage of the poor (X2) positive
and significant impact on the HDI (Y), proved the analysis results obtained t count of (-
7.190) and sig 0.002. This means that the lower the percentage of poor people, the higher the
human development index. (3) Public expenditure on education (X3) positive and significant
impact on the human development index (Y), proved the analysis results obtained t count of
(4.983) and 0.008 sig. This means that the bigger the budget allocation for education, the
better its human development index. (4) Public expenditure on health (X4) positive and
significant impact on the human development index (Y), proved the analysis results obtained
t count of (4.298) (5) Inequality distrtibusi income (X5) unequal distribution of income a
significant negative effect on the human development index (Y), proved the analysis results
obtained t count of (-10.263) and sig 0.001. This means that the lower the income inequality
that occurred distrtibusi the higher the human development index.
