PERAN DETASEMEN KHUSUS 88 POLISI DAERAH SUMATERA BARAT DALAM PEMBERANTASAN TINDAK PIDANA TERORISME

Terrorism Crime is a crime that involves elements of violence or which have a dangerous effect on humans that violate criminal law, which is clearly intended to intimidate the civilian population, influence the policies of the government and state administrators by kidnapping or killing. Eradication of criminal acts of terrorism is regulated in Law No. 15 of 2003 Article 1 concerning the Establishment of the Government in Lieu of Law No. 1 of 2002 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism. The Special Anti-Terrorism Detachment 88 arrangement is regulated through National Police Regulation No. 30 / VI / 2003 concerning Anti-Terror Forces. Therefore it is necessary to have a qualified Anti-Terror Forces reliable investigator to overcome them. This Detachment 88 is in the Police Mobile Brigade Corps. The formulation of the problem is: 1) What is the Role of Detachment 88 of the West Sumatra Regional Police in eradicating criminal acts of terrorism? 2) What are the obstacles faced by the Detachment 88 of the West Sumatra Regional Police in eradicating criminal acts of terrorism? This study uses a sociological legal approach, and data sources in the form of primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques were obtained through interviews and document studies. Data were analyzed qualitatively. Conclusion of the research results: 1) The role of Detachment 88 has the main task, namely to be able to capture, uncover and dismantle the terrorism network that lies behind it, in facilitating the disclosure conducted by Densus 88, it is authorized to cut all forms of bureaucratic obstacles that exist within the National Police. 2) Constraints faced by Special Detachment 88 of the West Sumatran Regional Police are limited equipment, personnel knowledge and human resources
