ABSTRACT

The police as law enforcement officers have the authority to conduct the investigation process against criminal acts of trafficking as stipulated in Article 113 of Law No. 7 of 2014 concerning Trade. Criminal acts of trade that have occurred such as business actors who trade iron that do not fulfill SNI in the jurisdiction of the West Sumatra Regional Police. Problem Formulation 1) What is the implementation of the investigation carried out by the West Sumatra Regional Police against criminal acts of iron trading that do not fulfill SNI? 2) What constraints were found by investigators of the West Sumatra Regional Police in carrying out the investigation of criminal acts of iron trading that did not meet SNI? This study uses sociological legal methods. Data sources are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques are through qualitative interviews and study documents and data analysis. Conclusions of research results 1) Investigations are carried out by collecting at least 2 pieces of evidence, examining witnesses, experts and suspects and examining iron evidence to test evidence and experts (baristand). 2) Constraints encountered by investigators are technical constraints, that is, the place for testing evidence that is far-reaching takes a long time and costs a lot. Non-technical constraints are interventions from third parties.
