Abstract

ABSTRACT

The crime of providing false data by foreign citizens is one of the crimes that often occur in the current era, because basically every foreign citizen who enters and lives in the territory of Indonesia must comply with all the provisions governed by statutory regulations. If these provisions are violated, they are threatened with criminal sanctions according to Article 123 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number. 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. West Sumatra is an area that is often entered by foreigners both for work or tourism. Problem  formulation: 1). What is the efforts of the Directorate General of Intelligence and Security of the West Sumatra Regional Police in tackling the crime of providing false data to obtain a residence permit? 2). What is the obstacle factor in the efforts of the Directorate General of Intelligence and Security of the West Sumatra Regional Police in tackling the crime of providing false data by foreign citizens? This research uses sociological juridical research approach. Sources of data obtained from primary data and secondary data. Data was collected  through interviews and document studies. Data were analyzed qualitatively. Conclusions of the results of the study 1). The efforts undertaken by the Directorate General of Security of the West Sumatra Regional Police are: to make arrests, conduct law enforcement efforts, disseminate legislative regulations to government officials at the kelurahan level, communities and foreign citizens. 2). The obstacles and obstacles encountered by the Directorate General of Intelligence and Security of the West Sumatra Regional Police are: Lack of understanding of foreign languages by officers in conducting direct supervision of foreigners which results in difficulties in communication between the Inspector Officer and foreign citizens.
