Pharmaceutical workers are part of the health workforce regulated in Article 11 paragraph (1) of Law No. 36 of 2014 by concerning Health Workers. Pharmaceutical workers negligent in carrying out their duties regulated in article 84 paragraph 2 of Law no. 36 of 2014. In 2017 investigators received reports from the families of victims of the informal "S" where there had been a case by the pharmacy "MC" who was carrying out his duties negligently causing the death of "HRM". Formulation of the problem are (1) What is the role of the investigator that causes death by pharmaceutical personnel? (2) What are the obstacles encountered by investigators by the West Sumatra Regional Police in investigating negligence and causing death by pharmaceutical personnel? This type of research is socio-legal research. Data sources are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques through interviews and document studies. Data were analyzed qualitatively. Conclusions are (1) The role of investigators in cases of negligence that causes death by "MC" pharmaceutical personnel begins with the process of receiving a report, going to the crime scene, arresting, detaining, investigating, searching and confiscating. (2) there are 2 obstacles encountered, namely internal constraints: limited facilities and infrastructure, lack of investigator capacity, while external factors: lack of participation in the community.
