PERAN KOMISI PEMILIHAN UMUM PROVINSI SUMATERA BARAT DALAM MEMENUHI KETERWAKILAN PEREMPUAN PADA PEMILU LEGISLATIF 2019 DI PROVINSI SUMATERA BARAT
Abstract
Elections are regulated in Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections. Associated with the representation of women 30% (percent) to nominate members of the DPR, Provincial DPRD, Regency / City DPRD listed in Article 10 Paragraph 7 of Law Number 7 of 2017. In the 2019 Election the DPRD of West Sumatra Province experienced a decrease of 1.95%. The formulation of the problems in this study are (1) What is the role of the KPU of West Sumatra Province in fulfilling women's representation in the 2019 legislative Election in West Sumatra Province? (2) What are the obstacles faced by the KPU of West Sumatra Province in fulfilling women's representation in the 2019 Legislative Election in West Sumatra Province? (3) What is the effort to resolve the obstacles faced by the KPU of West Sumatra Province in fulfilling women's representation in the 2019 Legislative Election in West Sumatra Province? The research method is sociological law, namely by obtaining Primary data, through interviews in the KPU office. The results showed that the role of the KPU fulfilling women's representation in the 2019 legislative elections in the Province of West Sumatra regarding affirmative action is regulated in Law No. 7 of 2017 in Articles 248 (1) and 249 (2). KPU constraints are lack of community participation, lack of political party participation in seminars, limited media information. Efforts to resolve KPU constraints are to conduct socialization to the female community, to conduct seminars to political parties more decisively.
