PERANAN DIGITAL FORENSIK DALAM MENGUNGKAPKANUJARAN KEBENCIAN MELALUI INTERNET (STUDI KASUS DI POLDA SUMATERA BARAT)

Abstract

Digital Forensic Activities in proving a case of hate speech on Facebook against one of the candidates for regional head of West Sumatra carried out by the defendants E.S and R.P on June 18, 2020. Problem Formulation 1) What is the Role of Digital Forensics in Uncovering Cases of Hate Speech on the Internet? 2) What Are the Digital Forensic Constraints in Uncovering Hate Speech Cases on the Internet? This research uses sociological juridical research. Sources of data are primary data and secondary data. Data were collected by interview and document study. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively. Conclusions: 1) The role of digital forensics to analyze existing evidence in the form of evidence collection, storage, analysis and presentation, then it can be decided that the Facebook accounts named E.S and R.P are proven to have committed a crime. 2) The obstacles experienced by investigating informants who are experts in the field of digital forensics in cases of hate speech on the internet include inadequate legal instruments, a lack of investigator members who specialize in cyber crimes and a lack of forensic laboratories to analyze evidence of cyber crime.
