Abstract

ABSTRAK Virtual money or electronic money is money whose transactions use the internet and usually involve the use of computer networks, international law does not regulate Cryptocurrency, but some There are countries that have legalized Cryptocurrencies, such as Japan, the United States and Singapore, but in Indonesia there is no regulation regarding these Cryptocurrencies, it is feared that the owner of the Cryptocurrency is not clear in the country or international rules that govern it. Problem Formulation 1) How isRegulation Cryptocurrency as a legal currency under International Law? 2) How is the Recognition of Cryptocurrency in Indonesia? This study uses a normative juridical. using primary legal material data sources, secondary legal materials, and tertiary legal materials data were collected through document studies. Based on research 1)According to international law there is no regulation regarding thecurrency cryptocurrency , the IMF and the World Bank will only be limited to making rules about cryptocurrencies but some countries already have legalized cryptocurrency.2)In Indonesia, transactions using Bitcoin are still unclear on the basis the law. Because of this uncertainty, transactions using cryptocurrencies cannot be said to be legal. cryptocurrency or crypto currency, does not qualify as a means of payment either in theory or by law. As according to Bank BI rules, namely PBI Number 16/8/PBI/2014 which requires that electronic money be issued on the basis of the value of money that was deposited in advance by the holder to the issuer.
