Abstract

ABSTRAK The crime of theft is regulated in chapter XXII ARTICLE 362-367 of the Criminal Code, while the regulations regarding covid-19 are regulated in regional regulation no. 6 of 2020 concerning the adaptation of new habits. Problem Formulation: 1) What are the factors causing the increase in criminal acts of theft during the Covid-19 era at the Kuranji Police, Padang City? 2) What are the obstacles faced by the Kuranji sector police in overcoming the crime of theft during the covid-19 pandemic?. Research Results: 1) the cause of the increase in criminal acts of theft during the covid-19 period was due to the number of layoffs (PHK) after the implementation of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) during the covid-19 pandemic. 2) the obstacles faced by the Kuranji sector police in tackling the crime of theft during the covid-19 pandemic can be seen from internal and external factors.
