Abstract

ABSTRACT The police providei legali protectioni fori victimsi ofi domestici violence.i According to Article 1 point 1 of Police Regulation No. 10 of 2007 concerning the Organization and Work Procedure of the Women and Children Service Unit states that the police in this case the Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) are obliged to provide services in the form of protection for women and children who are victims of crime and law enforcement against the perpetrators. For example, around November 2021 in Lubuk Minturun, a woman was doused with hot oil by her husband. After receiving the report, the victim was given legal protection by the police. Formulation of the problem; (1) What are the efforts of the West Sumatra Regional Police PPA Unit in providing legal protection to victims of domestic violence? (2) What are the obstacles faced by the West Sumatra Regional Police PPA Unit in providing legal protection to victims of domestic violence?.. The results of the study (1) Legal protection efforts, namely preventive socialization related to preventing the occurrence of domestic violence. The two repressives receive complaints, investigate/investigate, carry out post-mortems, provide counseling, recover victims and cooperate with women's empowerment organizations. (2) The obstacles faced are the low legal awareness of the community, the victim feels ashamed to report it, the victim still wants to maintain the marriage, and the community does not know about the PPA unit.
