Abstract

ABSTRAK Child protection is regulated in Article 1 number 2 of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection. However, sexual abuse of children by his biological father is still found, as is the case handled by investigators at the Padang Police. Problem formulation: 1) What is the role of Padang Police investigators in resolving cases of sexual abuse of children by biological fathers? 2) What are the obstacles faced by Padang Police investigators in resolving cases of sexual abuse against children by biological fathers? This type of juridical sociological research, using primary data in the form of interviews and secondary data in the form of criminal statistics, data collection techniques with interviews and document studies, the data were analyzed qualitatively. Conclusions: 1) The role of Padang Police investigators in resolving cases of sexual abuse against children has been going well after receiving reports, coordinating with related parties, assisting social services and protecting victims' rights; 2) Obstacles faced by investigators in resolving cases of sexual abuse against children are internal constraints (limited human resources, difficulty in finding perpetrators, witness statements and evidence) and external constraints (support from the surrounding environment).
