Abstract

Education is the most important thing as the basis for developing the quality of the nation's next generation. The Padang City Government issued a Padang Mayor Regulation Number 42 of 2020 concerning Procedures for Admission of New Students which raises the pros and cons of the zoning system. Problem formulation: 1) How is the implementation of Padang Mayor Regulation Number 42 of 2020 concerning Procedures for New Student Admission (PPDB) on the zoning system for Junior High School (SMP) in Padang City? 2) What are the problems faced in relation to the policy of the Mayor of Padang City Regulation Number 42 of 2020 concerning Procedures for the Implementation of New Students on the Junior High School (SMP) level zoning system in Padang City? 3) What are the efforts of the Padang City Government towards the obstacles to implementing the policy of the Padang Mayor Regulation Number 42 of 2020 concerning Procedures for Admission of New Students to the Junior High School (SMP) level zoning system in Padang City?. Sources of data from the author using primary, secondary, and tertiary data sources. The collection techniques are interviews, documentation studies and qualitative data analysis. The results of the study: 1) Implementation of the Mayor of Padang Regulation Number 42 of 2020 concerning Procedures for Implementing New Student Admissions has been realized 2) The obstacle faced is equity 3) Government efforts have been made, the problem is the absence of land.
