The role of the government in developing tourism in outline is to provide infrastructure (not only physical form), expand various facilities, coordination activities between government officials and tourism, general arrangements and promotions abroad. Tourism as referred to in the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 10 of 2009 concerning Tourism in Article 1 point 3. Problem formulation: 1) What is the mechanism used by the Padang City Tourism and Culture Office in implementing Environmentally Friendly Tourism Development in Padang City? 2) What are the obstacles faced by the Padang City Tourism and Culture Office in implementing Environmentally Friendly Tourism Development in Padang City? 3) What are the efforts made by the Padang City Tourism and Culture Office in implementing Environmentally Friendly Tourism Development in Padang City? The research method used is Sociological Law. Data collection techniques with interviews and document studies. Data analysis with qualitative analysis. The results of the study: 1)The mechanism carried out by the Padang City Tourism and Culture Office is in accordance with the components that must be met in sustainable tourism development. 2)The obstacles faced by the Padang City Tourism and Culture Office are that human resources are not optimal in implementing sustainable tourism. 3)The efforts made by the Padang City Tourism and Culture Office are to disseminate information to the community and the target groups of the Tourism OfficeReferences
