The settlement of criminal acts of traffic accidents committed by children must be resolved by diversion

efforts. Based on the provisions of Article 5 Paragraph (3) of Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the

Juvenile Criminal Justice System. Problem formulation: (1) How is the settlement of a traffic accident

crime committed by a child with diversion at the Padang Police? (2) What are the obstacles encountered

by investigators in resolving traffic accidents committed by children with diversion at the Padang Police?

Juridical-sociological Research Methods. Data sources: Primary and secondary data, data collection

techniques with interviews and document studies, data were analyzed qualitatively. Conclusions: (1)

Investigators have carried out the diversion settlement process as regulated in the SPPA Law but when the

diversion process was carried out the two families did not find an agreement. Then the diversion process

is continued at the investigation level; (2) Obstacles encountered by investigators in resolving diversion:

investigators have difficulty bringing together the victim and the perpetrator; the two sides often argue

over the issue of compensation; and the perpetrator's family who do not want to forgive the victim's

family.
