Abstract

ABSTRACT Marriage registration is regulated in the Marriage Law, unregistered marriages still occur in the community in Batu Gajah Village. Types of sociological legal research. Source of data used primary and secondary data. Data were analyzed qualitatively. The results of the research on the causes of marriage were not recorded in Batu Gajah Village, namely, the age factor, the cost factor, the administrative factor, and the eloping factor. The impacts that arise from unregistered marriages in Batu Gajah Village are that marriages are considered invalid according to the state, children who cannot claim a living or inheritance from their father and difficulties in managing family papers.
