Abstract

ABSTRAK In this thesis, the author raises the issue of Legal Protection for Copyright Writing related to Film Piracy in Telegram Applications and Websites. The choice of theme was motivated by the large number of film piracy that occurred, especially in the Telegram application. Writing this thesis raises the formulation of the problem: (1) What are the forms of legal protection for film copyright holders for piracy in films on websites and telegrams? (2) What factors become obstacles in the process of enforcing copyright laws regarding film piracy that occurs on websites and telegrams? (3) What legal efforts can copyright holders of pirated films take through websites and telegrams? Types of normative legal research. Source of data used secondary data. Data collection techniques with document studies. The results of this study show that the public can understand copyright protection in a preventive form by the government, namely by providing legal protection by blocking websites or telegram channels that commit piracy, and repressive dispute resolution efforts, which can be through arbitration dispute resolution or lawsuits. As well as the factors that make piracy use the telegram application because pirates consider telegram to be very easy to use, free and there is not too much supervision in the production channel. Efforts that can be made by copyright holders who are pirated by filing a complaint with the police/investigators regarding duplication or piracy.
