Abstract

ABSTRACT Pets are animals that are cared for, raised, cared for, and fulfilled with all the needs for their life and given a proper place to live by humans. Basically, everyone who owns and maintains pets is responsible for any losses resulting from unlawful acts caused by their pets contained in the provisions of Article 1368 of the Indonesian Civil Code. Formulation of the problem: 1) What is the responsibility and compensation for the owner of a pet cow that causes traffic accidents to other parties in Kupitan District, Sijunjung Regency? 2) How is the settlement of traffic accident cases due to pet cows in Kupitan District, Sijunjung Regency? Types of sociological legal research. Sources of data used are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques were carried out by interviews and literature studies. Data were analyzed qualitatively. The results of the research and discussion: 1) The responsibility of the owner of a pet cow for traffic accident victims is carried out by providing compensation. The compensation paid is based on the calculation of the actual loss suffered by the traffic accident victim. 2) Settlement of traffic accident cases caused by domestic cattle is carried out peacefully. Efforts made by the owner of the pet cow are by way of deliberation between the parties and settlement by involving community leaders.
