Abstract

ABSTRAK the activity of buying and selling used mported clothes which is detrimental to consumers is a separate problem for the government, this is related to consumer rights, especially the right to consumer security and safety. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection then to find out and review the supervision carried out by the Department of Trade on the buying and selling of imported used clothing at the Pasar Raya City of Padang. Formulation of the Problem: (1) What is the legal protection for consumers buying and selling used imported clothes at Pasar Raya Padang City (2) What are the constraints and efforts made by the Padang City Trade Office in protecting consumers buying and selling transactions of used imported clothes? This type of research is sociological juridical. Primary data source. Data collection techniques obtained through interviews. Research Results (1) Legal protection that consumers get from buying and selling used imported clothing if the business actor does not provide correct information then he is subject to sanctions (2) The efforts of the Padang City Trade Service in providing protection to consumers change to appeal to business actors. The obstacle faced by the Padang City Trade Office in enforcing rules related to the imported used clothing trade is the lack of awareness of business actors and consumers to comply with laws and regulations plus consumer awareness is still low about the dangers of imported used clothing.
