Abstract

ABSTRAK A guarantee card or guarantee is a statement from a product that the manufacturer guarantees that the product is free from material errors and failures within a certain period of time. In Article 25 of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection, the most important rights and obligations of consumers and business actors are the convenience and safety of a product, therefore it is very important that the warranty card is carried out as well as possible. Formulation of the problem: 1) what is the reason for the business actors not providing card guarantees after purchasing electronic products at the Cipta Jaya store in Padang City. 2) How is the form and application of compensation by business actors to consumers who are harmed by electronic products that are not accompanied by a guarantee card guarantee at the Cipta Jaya store in Padang City. The type of research is sociological juridical using primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques in the form of interviews. Data were analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study: (1) Business actors do not provide guarantee cards because when buying goods by business actors from producers they do not get guarantee cards and business actors close that the products being sold are of good quality and durable, so the goods will last beyond the warranty period. (2) Compensation made by business actors to consumers who are harmed because there is no guarantee card is given, namely in the form of repairs to goods based on the amount of damage suffered. If repairs require replacing spare parts, repair costs will be charged.
