Abstract

ABSTRACT Social media is very influential in today's development as a communication tool where every user can share information, knowledge and connect with each other. The development of social media makes performance faster, more accurate so that it can increase the resulting productivity. Currently, one of the social media that is often used today is Instagram. However, many Instagram social media users still do not understand consumer protection rights. Problem Formulation: 1) What are the responsibilities of online buying and selling accounts on Instagram social media for consumer protection rights? 2) What is the legal protection for consumers provided by the state regarding consumer protection rights? This type of research is a type of sociological juridical research. Data sources are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques are interviews and document studies. Data analysis uses qualitative methods. The result of study 1) The responsibility provided by online buying and selling accounts is in fact still lacking for some individuals who commit fraud on goods being bought and sold which results in consumers experiencing material losses and the seller disappearing after the transaction occurs. 2) Efforts made by the state in legal protection for consumers include in several legal aspects, namely in civil law aspects, administrative law aspects and criminal law aspects.
