Abstract

ABSTRAK Expired food is one of the foods that can harm consumers if used. Expired means that it has passed or the specified time has expired and if consumed, the food can endanger the consumer's health. expires if it is concluded in connection with the sale of goods or the sale of packaged products and food that are no longer suitable for sale to consumers. Problem formulation: 1). What is the responsibility of producers or business actors if there are consumers who receive expired packaged food products? 2). What are the obstacles to BBPOM supervision in following up on expired food? 3). What are the forms of efforts to implement and monitor expired food by BBPOM in Padang City? The research method used is sociological juridical, consisting of primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques were carried out using interviews, document studies which were analyzed qualitatively. Based on research, it can be concluded that, 1). The responsibility of the producer or business actor if there are consumers who receive expired packaged food products, such as providing compensation, can be in the form of a refund or replacement of goods and/or services of the same or equivalent value. 2). Obstacles to BBPOM supervision in following up on expired food include limited human resources, lack of understanding from consumers or the public, lack of understanding from business actors. 3). Forms of efforts to implement and monitor expired food by BBPOM in Padang City. BBPOM regularly carries out inspections in the field every month, such as supermarkets or traditional markets.
