Abstract

Gambling is a game that uses money to bet. One place for gambling is through online media, as regulated in Article 27 Paragraph (2) of the ITE Law. Nowadays, there is a lot of online gambling with slots, such as the case handled by the Kinali Police against the suspect "FJ". The suspect was arrested while playing online slot gambling using his cellphone. Problem Formulation: (1) What is the role of the West Pasaman Police in tackling criminal acts of online slot gambling? (2) What are the obstacles faced by the West Pasaman Police in dealing with slot type online gambling crimes? Types of sociological juridical research; data sources consist of primary and secondary data; data collection techniques using document studies and interviews; the data was analyzed qualitatively. Research results: (1) The efforts made by the West Pasaman Police to tackle criminal acts of online gambling were carried out pre-emptively (conducting outreach to the public, putting up billboards and advertisements), preventative (carrying out patrols and raids), and repressive (making arrests against perpetrators of online gambling), (2) The obstacles faced by the West Pasaman Police in dealing with criminal acts of online gambling are the lack of public awareness, human resources, facilities and infrastructure.
