Abstract

ABSTRACT Increasing consumer awareness is regulated in Article 44 Paragraph (3) Point b of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection which states that disseminating information is in order to increase awareness of the rights and obligations and caution of consumers in consuming goods and/or services. Problem formulation: 1) How is the role of the Consumer Protection Agency implemented in increasing consumer awareness of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Padang City? 2) What are the obstacles to Consumer Protection institutions in increasing consumer awareness of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Padang City? 3) What are the efforts made by the Consumer Protection Agency in dealing with obstacles to increase consumer awareness of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Padang City? Type of research The type of research is sociological juridical. Data sources are primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques are document study and interviews. Data sources were analyzed qualitatively. The results of the research are: 1) Implementation of the role of the Consumer Protection Agency, namely: conducting outreach to the community, advocacy activities for consumers in need, LPKSM online advertising services for MSME food in Padang City. 2) The constraints of the Consumer Protection Agency are: minimal operational costs, lack of public awareness of MSME products, the existence of MSME business actors who commit fraud, lack of quality human resources. 3) Efforts made by the Consumer Protection Agency are: having LPKSM cash funds, collaborating with the Padang City Government.
