IMPLEMENTASI UNDANG-UNDANG NOMOR 1 TAHUN 2017 TENTANG KESETARAAN GENDER (KHUSUS KETERWAKILAN PEREMPUAN DI DPRD KOTA PADANG)

Abstract

Article 1 paragraph (2) of law Number 1 Year 2017 on gender Equality. That "Gender Equality and Justice is the condition of the relationship between women and men as equal partners in order to get fair treatment to access resources, control, participate, and obtain development benefits". Problem formulation: 1) How is the implementation of Law No. 1/2017 on Gender Equality on women's representation in politics in the Padang City DPRD? 2) What are the obstacles experienced by women in political participation in the Padang City DPRD? 3) What are the efforts of political parties to increase women's representation in political participation in the Padang City DPRD? The method of legal research is juridical sociological, data sources are obtained from primary and secondary data, data is collected through document studies and interviews, data is analyzed qualitatively. Research results: 1) The implementation of Law Number 1 of 2017 concerning Gender Equality towards women’s representation in politics in the Padang City DPRD, has not been implemented properly, due tu public views on gender stereotypes in politics 2) The obstacles experienced by women in political participation in the Padang City DPRD: gender stereotypes, lack of financial support, and patriarchal culture. 3) Efforts by political parties to increase women’s representation in political participation in the Padang City DPRD such as: providing political education to women.
