Abstract

The circulation of imported products in Indonesia to fulfill local regulations certainly requires supervision. Imported products entering Indonesia must use clear and correct information, one of which is Indonesian language label information based on Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection in Article 8 Letter J. If there is unclear information about a product, supervision by BPOM is needed to minimize circulation of imported products that do not contain product composition information using Indonesian language labels in accordance with applicable standards. The problem formulation of this research is: (1) How is the implementation of supervision of imported products that do not have Indonesian labels? (2) What is the indirect legal protection for consumers against imported products that do not have Indonesian labels? (3) What efforts is made by BPOM towards products that do not have an Indonesian label? The type of research used is sociological juridical research. The data sources used are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques using literature study, observation and interviews. Data was analyzed qualitatively. Research results: (1) The implementation of supervision carried out by BPOM on imported products that are not labeled in Indonesian is by carrying out supervision before circulation (post market) and after circulation (pre market). (2) The form of protection provided to consumers is the existence of a legal umbrella in accordance with Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection in Article 8 letter j paragraph (1). (3) The efforts made by BPOM for imported products that do not use Indonesian language labels are by collaborating with other institutions.
