PELAKSANAAN PERKAWINAN ANTARA MASYARAKAT ADAT BATAK TOBA DENGAN MASYARAKAT ADAT NIAS DI KOTA PADANG

Abstract

ABSTRACT Indonesia has many diverse tribes, cultures and customs, including the Toba Batak and Nias traditions. These two customs have spread throughout Indonesia and even abroad. As time goes by, marriages have occurred between the Toba Batak Indigenous community and the Nias Indigenous community. The marriage between the two Indigenous communities is a mixed marriage which has its own customary procedures so that the marriage process is not easy because there are different customs. Formulation of the problem in this research: 1) How is the implementation of marriage between the Toba Batak Indigenous community and the Nias Indigenous community in Padang City? 2) What are the consequences of marriage between the Toba Batak Indigenous community and the Nias Indigenous community in Padang City? This research uses a sociological juridical approach, the data sources used are primary data and secondary data, data collection techniques were obtained through interviews and document study. The data analysis used is qualitative analysis. The results of the research, 1) The marriage between the Batak Toba Indigenous community and the Nias Indigenous community was carried out involving both traditions, 2) The consequences of the marriage between the Toba Batak Indigenous community and the Nias Indigenous Community, can be seen on the husband or wife, children, property and inheritance.
