The abuse of narcotics is a form of crime that often leads to recidivism, where offenders commit similar offenses after being released from correctional facilities. Recidivism is regulated under Article 486 of the 1946 Criminal Code, while provisions regarding narcotics are stipulated in the Narcotics Law. Rehabilitation for narcotics offenders takes place in Correctional Institutions (Lapas), as defined in Article 1, point 18 of the Correctional Law. LPP Class IIB Padang serves as a rehabilitation facility for female inmates convicted of narcotics offenses. The formulation of the research problems includes: (1) What is the role of LPP Class IIB Padang in preventing recidivism among narcotics offenders? (2) What challenges does LPP Class IIB Padang face in preventing recidivism among narcotics offenders? This research employs a socio-legal approach, with data sources derived from primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques include interviews and document studies, and the collected data is analyzed qualitatively. The research findings show that (1) LPP Class IIB Padang plays a crucial role in preventing recidivism among narcotics offenders through personality and selfreliance development programs. (2) The challenges faced by LPP Class IIB Padang in preventing recidivism among narcotics offenders include budget constraints, malingering (faking illness) by inmates, and an imbalance in the ratio between correctional officers and inmates.References
