PERAN ALIANSI JURNALIS INDEPENDEN (AJI) PADANG DALAM MENGADVOKASI KASUS KORUPSI DI KOTA PADANG

Abstract

Corruption is a problem that is detrimental to society in efforts to eradicate corruption in Indonesia, including in Padang City, Law Number 31 of 1999 in conjunction with Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning criminal acts of corruption and Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning the Press, the role of journalists is very important, such as the case handled by the Padang Independent Journalist Alliance in 2021, the alleged procurement of vocational school student practice equipment at the West Sumatra education office found a state loss of around IDR 5,500,000,000.00 billion Rupiah. The formulation of the problem in this study includes: (1) The role of the Padang Independent Journalist Alliance in advocating corruption cases in Padang City? (2) Obstacles to the Padang Independent Journalist Alliance's advocacy for corruption cases in the city of Padang. This study uses a qualitative method with primary data sources obtained directly using interview techniques with respondents, and secondary data obtained through data sources on AJI Padang's advocacy activities. The results of the study show that: (1) AJI Padang plays a role in supporting advocacy for corruption cases through reporting. Therefore, further support is needed from various parties, including the government, civil society, anti-corruption institutions and advocacy organizations. (2) AJI Padang faces various challenges, such as pressure from certain parties and limited resources, and encourages transparency in the city of Padang.
