PERAN MAJELIS ULAMA INDONESIA SUMATERA BARAT DALAM MEMBERIKAN PERLINDUNGAN KONSUMEN TERHADAP PEREDARAN MAKANAN YANG TIDAK BERLABEL HALAL DI KOTA PADANG

Abstract

ABSTRAK Until now, the circulation of food without halal labels is still found in the market so that LPPOM supervision is needed. Problem Formulation: 1) How is the Legal Protection for Consumers Against Food Without Halal Labels? 2) What are the Obstacles Faced by LPPOM MUI West Sumatra in Providing Legal Protection for Consumers Against Food Without Halal Labels? 3) How are LPPOM MUI West Sumatra's Efforts in Protecting Consumers from the Circulation of Food Without Halal Labels? This type of research is sociological juridical. Data collection techniques were obtained through interviews and document studies. The results of the study are 1) The form of legal protection for consumers is stated in Article 56 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 33 of 2014 that business actors who do not maintain the halalness of products are subject to a fine of two billion rupiah. 2) The obstacles experienced by LPPOM MUI West Sumatra are limited resources, lack of public awareness and limited existing technology. 3) The efforts of LPPOM MUI West Sumatra in protecting consumers are through preventive efforts by conducting socialization to business actors in Padang City, providing education to consumers about imported foods that are halal and unhalal labeled, Repressive efforts carried out by LPPOM MUI West Sumatra are by means of strict supervision of traders who market imported foods that are not halal labeled.
