PERAN KEPOLISIAN PASAMAN BARAT DALAM MENANGGULANGI TINDAK PIDANA CYBERBULLYING DI KALANGAN SISWA MENENGAH ATAS

Abstract

Information technology has changed the way humans interact and created new lifestyles in society. The use of the internet has also increased the risk of cybercrimes, such as cyberbullying, which calls for the crucial role of the police in its prevention and handling
among high school students. This study aims to analyze the role of the Pasaman Barat police in combating cyberbullying among high school students and to identify the challenges faced by the police in addressing cyberbullying. The research method employed is a sociological juridical study with an empirical approach. The data used in this research include primary and secondary data, which are then analyzed qualitatively. Conclusion: 1) The role of the West Pasaman Police in overcoming cyberbullying among high school students through the application of pre-emptive, preventive and repressive approaches. 2) Obstacles faced by the West Pasaman Police in addressing cyberbullying include limited human resources, a lack of technological facilities and infrastructure, and low public awareness. The limited number of personnel with specialized expertise in cybercrime, particularly those related to cyberbullying, hampers the effectiveness of the identification, investigation, and handling of cases.
