The implementation of rehabilitation for drug abusers at Prof. HB. Saanin Mental Hospital (RSJ Prof. HB. Saanin) Padang City is based on the provisions of Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics and Law Number 36 of 2009 on Health. This study addresses the following research questions: (1) How is the implementation of legal protection for drug abusers undergoing rehabilitation at RSJ Prof. HB. Saanin Padang City? (2) What is the mechanism of the legal protection framework regarding the confidentiality of information of narcotics rehabilitation patients at RSJ Prof. HB. Saanin Padang City? (3) How effective are the legal protection efforts for drug abusers rehabilitated at RSJ Prof. HB. Saanin Padang City in reducing drug abuse? This research employs a socio-legal (juridical-sociological) approach. The data sources consist of primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques include document study and interviews, which are then analyzed using qualitative analysis. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The implementation of legal protection includes a clear legal and policy framework, an integrated legal and medical assessment process, and rehabilitation as a form of recovery rather than punishment. (2) The mechanism of legal protection for the confidentiality of narcotics rehabilitation patients’ information includes restricted access limited to authorized health personnel, secure and systematic medical record management, and adherence to medical and psychiatric professional codes of ethics. (3) The effectiveness of legal protection efforts for rehabilitated drug abusers is reflected in rehabilitation based on court decisions or recommendations from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the provision of medical and social rehabilitation, data confidentiality and humane treatment, post-rehabilitation monitoring, and family guidance and support.
