ABSTRACT

The North Natuna Sea is a sea water that is blessed with extraordinary potential and is located in the Southeast Asian region where the waters have extraordinary natural and mineral wealth and are beneficial to the surrounding countries. The waters that directly border Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore are also a very strategic shipping route in the world, this is because these waters have very high asset value and also have an influence and interest in this region. Problem Formulation: 1) How are the regulations and mechanisms for resolving North Natuna Sea disputes according to International Law? 2) How is the implementation of the North Natuna Sea dispute resolution within the ASEAN framework. The type of research used is normative legal research. Data sources use primary legal materials and secondary legal materials. The data collection technique used by the author is a literature study. The data analysis technique used by the author is qualitative analysis. The results of the research conclusions: 1) Under international law, the position of the North Natuna Sea is part of the Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zone as regulated in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS 1982). 2) In facing the dynamics and challenges in the North Natuna Sea, Indonesia consistently adopts an international legal approach and peaceful diplomacy.
