ABSTRACT

Gas stations play a crucial role in supporting economic activity and daily public mobility. Gas stations are obligated to provide safe, accurate service that meets established standards. However, in practice, fueling errors are still common, leading to technical problems, reduced engine performance, and even vehicle damage, which is detrimental to consumers. The issues to be discussed are: 1) What are the forms of legal responsibility of gas station business actors for fuel filling errors in Padang City? 2) What are the obstacles faced in implementing these responsibilities? 3) What efforts are made to handle consumer losses? The type of research is sociological juridical, the data sources are primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques are carried out through interviews, document studies, and qualitative analysis of the data obtained. The results of the study are: 1) That gas station business actors have carried out legal responsibilities by stopping incorrect fuel filling, prohibiting vehicle operation, draining tanks, and replacing fuel with the correct type. 2) The obstacles faced include operator negligence, high vehicle volume, and the complexity of the multi-product system in one pump island. 3) Efforts made by gas station business actors are strengthening the role of supervisors, resolving disputes through non-litigation, and providing direct compensation to consumers.
