Abstract

ABSTRACT  
In the world of trade, the brand as one form of intellectual property rights has an important role because the brand is used to distinguish the origin of the goods and services. In Indonesia, branded regulated in Law Number 15 of 2001 on Marks. Trademark registration is one way to do that brand holders get legal protection from the government. The problems discussed are: 1) How does the legal awareness of entrepreneurs on the implementation of trademark registration in Padang? .2) What are the obstacles encountered in the implementation of the registration of the mark in Padang?. This type of research is juridical sociological. Data sources used include primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques by means of interviews and document study. The collected data was analyzed by qualitative. Results of the study: 1) Awareness of legal businesses to the implementation of trademark registration in the city of Padang that not all businesses in the city of Padang has registered its brand. 2) Obstacles encountered businesses due to lack of knowledge regarding the registration of the mark and the obstacles encountered the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights is due to lack of interest of businessmen to attend the socialization of brands given the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
